The Simple Accommodation Certificate was introduced in 2021 with the amendment made to the Tourism Incentive Law No. 2634 in order to connect the businesses directly to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and to continue their activities according to the instructions and standards of the ministry. With this regulation, it became mandatory for accommodation facilities to obtain a Tourism Management Certificate or a Simple Accommodation Certificate (for facilities with a municipal license date before 28.07.2021) in order to operate. While Tourism Management Certificate applications are still ongoing, Simple Accommodation Certificate is no longer issued after the 1-year period granted by the ministry as of 28.07.2022. However, Simple Accommodation Certificate transfer procedures can still be carried out today. Although a Tourism Management Certificate is not yet required for facilities with a Simple Accommodation Certificate, it is expected that the process of transition of Simple Accommodation Facilities to a Tourism Management Certificate will be initiated in the future.
